Alpine Potato-Vegetable Soup

1  clove garlic, minced
1  large onion, chopped
1 tbsp butter or margarine
5 cups chicken broth
3  med potatoes, peeled and cubed
2  med medium carrots, sliced
2  med celery stalks, sliced
1   zucchini, sliced
1 tbsp dill
2-3  sprigs parsley
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Mix garlic and onion with butter or margarine and saute for a few minutes in soup pot on medium heat.  Add chicken broth, potatoes, celery, and carrots and cook until carrots firm and par-cooked.  Reduce heat to low and add remaining ingredients.  Slow cook until done to taste.  Serve.
