Black-Eyed Pea Pinwheels

Donated By:  Colleen Callander

1 ea (15-oz) can black-eyed peas, drained
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 tsp seasoned salt
2-3 dashes hot sauce
  dash garlic powder
2 ea (3-oz) pkgs cream cheese, softened
1 ea (10-oz) pkg 6×4-inch ham slices
10 ea green onions, cut into 6-inch pieces

Combine peas, butter, salt, hot sauce and garlic powder in a sauce pan and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Let cool.

Place cooled mixture and cream cheese in a food processor and process 3 to 5 seconds until mixture is well-blended.

Spread about 3 tablespoons of the mixture on each slice of ham.  Place a piece of green onion lengthwise, then roll the ham up.  Chill until ready to serve.

Cut each roll into 1/2-inch pieces and arrange cut side up on a serving platter to resemble a pinwheel.
